Research Aims

In recent years the research group has focused on the analysis of legal, corporate and economic discourse, in different registers and genres.

Quantitative and qualitative studies have produced interesting findings in the field of economic-managerial language in its argumentative, informative, promotional and persuasive functions, as well as in legal language and its normative/performative features.

Contrastive variables have been examined, such as the relationship between oral and written discourse, and paper vs electronic, including a focus on mixed genres and multimodal forms of production.

Analyses include a comparison between academic and professional discourse in multicultural contexts where English is used as lingua franca. Building specialized corpora is one of the targets of the research group.

The data collected support and complement  discourse analysis also with reference to particular morphopragmatic, rhetorical and stylistic choices, and can be compared with larger generic corpora.
