Franca Poppi is Full Professor of English Linguistics and Translation at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. She has published on various aspects of teacher-learner interaction, learner autonomy and advising in self-instruction. Her research has focused on the interactional features of discourse, with particular reference to academic settings (economics and marketing textbooks) and the language of the law. Her current research interests are focused on English as an international lingua franca, as it is used in intercultural business communication, written corporate communication and corporate web-site communication.

She is on the Advisory Board for the Profile Journal, Issues in Teachers’ Professional Development. She is also a member of the review team for the Asian ESP Journal, the Bulletin of the South Ural State University. Series: Linguistics, and the Journal of Linguistics and Literature Studies.

Her latest publications include: Global Interactions in English as a Lingua Franca.
