Giorgia Riboni holds a PhD in English Studies and is currently working as an English lecturer at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Milan. Her main research interests lie in Internet genres and web-mediated communication platforms such as blogs and microblogs. In particular, she has investigated how the latter are rhetorically exploited so that they can be used as self-branding tools. More recently, she has turned her attention to the pragmatic aspects of microblogging interaction.
Her research is characterized by a methodological approach based on discourse analysis, often integrated with the quantitative examination typical of corpus linguistics.
