Giuseppe Palumbo is a Lecturer in ‘English Language and Translation’ at the Department of Legal, Language, Interpreting and Translation Studies, University of Trieste. Over the last few years, his research interests have mainly touched on specialised translation, with reference to the following areas: 1) the analysis of academic and specialized discourse; 2) translator training; 3) institutional communication in English as a Lingua Franca. He holds a PhD from the University of Surrey, where he studied the difficulties and problems posed by the translation of scientific texts, with particular reference to the syntactic aspects of source texts. In 2009 he published the volume Key Words in Translation Studies (Continuum), where he gives an overview of the major current approaches to translation research highlighting key concepts and pointing out differences and commonalities.
