Glen Michael Alessi is a Researcher at the Department of Communications and Economics at the University of Modena e Reggio Emilia. His interests have focused on teaching English for special purposes, English phonology, intercultural communication in business settings as well as interdiscursivity and intertextual aspects of professional discourse. He has addressed persuasive, metadiscursive and evaluative aspects of business discourse on Websites, in addition to analysis of expert-client interaction in business and paralegal settings. He recently co-edited a volume entitled The Ins and Outs of Business and Professional Discourse Research: Reflections on Interacting with the Workplace (Palgrave 2016 ) – awarded by the Association of Business Communication as ‘Distinguished Publication on Business Communication 2016’. Currently he is working on the analysis and intertextual/interdiscursive aspects of creating added value in heritage branding, destination branding, food activism and corporate strategic communication.
