Nicholas Brownlees is a retired Full Professor of English Language at the University of Florence. His main research interests focus on language and discourse in seventeenth-century English news publications and pamphlets. He is the author of numerous articles on news language in Early Modern England and edited News Discourse in Early Modern Britain (2006). He is the co-compiler of the Florence Early English Newspapers (FEEN) Corpus consisting of news pamphlets of the English Civil War and Interregnum.
