Paola Catenaccio is Full Professor of English Linguistics and Translation at Università degli Studi di Milano, where she teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Her research interests span from second language acquisition to translation and discourse analysis, especially in the context of LSP research. Her methodological approach combines qualitative and quantitative approaches: within an overarching discourse analytical framework, multi-method perspectives integrating genre analysis, textlinguistics, argumentation and pragmatics are used in combination with corpus linguistics. Her research spans a variety of specialised domains, with a focus on aspects of news production (mainly from a corporate perspective) and on legal discourse. Her most recent contributions focus on linguistic aspects of corporate communication, especially the genre of the press release, and on various aspects of corporate social responsibility discourse. She has authored numerous articles which have appeared in international journals and edited collections. Some of her latest publications are: “Social and environmental reports. A diachronic perspective on an emerging genre” (2011); “Green advertising and corporate CSR communication: hybrid discourses, mutant genres” (2011); Corporate Press Releases: An Overview (2008); “De-humanising the alien: The construction of migrants’ rights in EU legislation” (2007); “Press releases as a hybrid genre: Addressing the informative/promotional conundrum” (2008). She has also co-edited, with Giuliana Garzone and Gina Poncini, Multimodality in Corporate Communication. Web Genres and Discursive Identity (2007) and, with Giuliana Garzone, Language and Bias in Specialised Discourse (2008) and Identities Across Media and Modes: Discursive Perspectives (2009).
